6 Common Signs of Strep Throat
- Sudden, painful and scratchy throat
- Red, swollen tonsils with white patches
- High fever greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
- Difficulty swallowing
- Nausea and vomiting
- Swollen and tender lymph nodes in the neck
Did You Know?
- Not all sore throats are strep. To make the diagnosis, you need to have a strep test.
- Not all strep throats are sore. Some children with strep have headaches, nausea or vomiting.
How did I get strep throat?
You could have easily picked up the highly contagious bacteria from a countertop or doorknob and transferred it to your eyes, mouth or nose, increasing your chances of getting strep.
