UH Pediatric Clinical Update | September 2019

On July 1, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital began collaborating with MetroHealth to offer enhanced pediatric services for patients throughout the region.

UH Rainbow now provides pediatric specialty care services in pediatric radiology, nephrology, cardiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, urology, general surgery and gastroenterology at MetroHealth’s main campus, complementing the hospital’s own pediatric services.

“There has been a very warm reception at MetroHealth to the UH providers,” says Stacy Porter, Senior Director of Pediatrics and Women’s Health at UH. “For us and for them, the priority is always, “What is best for the patient?”  This collaboration is Phase 1 of a two-part process, Porter notes.

The plan builds upon both system’s shared goal of providing high-quality accessible health care to all children.

”We appreciate the opportunity to work closely with MetroHealth to ensure continuity of care for our region’s youngest patients,” said Patricia DePompei, RN, MSN, president of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital.

“Our providers are dedicated to delivering coordinated care that achieves improved health and offers the best value,” added Marlene Miller, MD, MSc, Pediatrician-in-Chief at UH and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at UH Rainbow.

UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, a trusted leader in pediatric health care for more than 130 years, is a 244-bed, full-service children’s hospital and academic medical center. UH Rainbow consistently ranks among the top children’s hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
