UH Center for Geriatric Medicine is Dedicated to the Health and Well-Being of Older Adults

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) in April 2008 noted that "the nation faces an impending health care crisis as the number of older patients with more complex health needs increasingly outpaces the number of health care providers with the knowledge and skills to adequately care for them. Right now the nation is not prepared to meet the social and health care needs of elderly people."
The Center for Geriatric Medicine at University Hospitals is striving to meet those needs, now and in the future.
A collaborative program sponsored by the Case/Uh departments of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine, the center brings together health care professionals form a variety of disciplines, including nursing, social sciences, dentistry and public health to provide the region's aging population with the highest quality care. Our expert understand the complex medical concerns older adults face and individualize care to address issues such as memory loss, decreased mobility, arthritis pain, and managing multiple medications.
