Bio

Anne Beer, born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and a resident of Ashland since 1983, spent most of her career working for a company now called Lumina Datamatics. The Ashland-based (until 2011) firm served major publishers of textbooks and scientific journals. Anne was assigned large client accounts and managed various internal teams located in-house, remotely across the U.S, and in Chennai, India. She played key roles in both the set-up of new processes and the management of processes for continuous improvement.

After leaving Lumina in 2015, she and her husband Bob enjoyed six years of extensive traveling. During that period, Anne worked as an independent contractor, taking on projects for publishers, scientific authors, and business leaders that involved writing, editing, or project management.

In 2018, as a way to “stay young” and learn about today’s marketing practices, Anne joined Spire, a fast-growing Ashland company that provides digital marketing and websites (her degree from Ohio State University was a marketing degree). What Anne has seen at Spire, is the same thing she learned at Lumina—the need to innovate never lessens. Today at Spire, Anne manages a few key client accounts and is heavily engaged with the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of the company’s core processes.

Anne is the chair of the UH South Market Board of Directors. Her service on the board of Samaritan Hospital began in 2009. She was a member of the committee that made the recommendation to the board in 2015 that Samaritan join UH.

In the 1990s, Anne served as campaign chair, vice chair, and chair of the United Way of Ashland County. She is also the past secretary, vice chair, and chair of the Ashland County Community Foundation, retiring from the foundation in 2007.
