Below is a comprehensive list of services the UH Clinical Research Center offers amongst all its cores. Each service has the contact information listed, if you have additional questions or recommendations outside of these services, please route to ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org.

Research Concierge

Any researcher with a new or ongoing study who has issues or questions, or would like to take a tour of UH Clinical Research Center facilities and meet our staff, is encouraged to complete the Research Concierge Inquiry Form.

Recruitment & Community Outreach Strategy Consultations

Recruitment & Community Outreach Strategy Consultations are available at any point during a study’s timeline. A Recruitment Specialist will walk Principal Investigators through different recruitment strategies and help create a community at other UH facilities to increase patient diversity. TriNetX

TriNetX allows us to query the UH Electronic Medical Records to assist with research activities such as study feasibility, participant recruitment, and obtaining de-identified data across 50+ healthcare organizations. Contact the Clinical Research Development Core for assistance:

Shared Investigator Platform

Interested in industry-sponsored studies but can’t find the time to look for a study? The Shared Investigator Platform solves this problem. Create an account on this platform and let the Sponsors and CROs come to you. To create an account, contact Regina.Casselberry@UHhospitals.org.

Biostatistical Support

The Biostatistical Support Services provides expertise in assisting investigators with disseminating research through highly influential outlets. Services include statistical analysis and interpretation of clinical datasets, sample size and power calculations, and statistical plans and consultation. This service is free to those without a departmental biostatistician and unfunded research. Contact BiostatsSupport@UHhospitals.org for assistance.

UH Mobile Clinical Research Unit*

The UH Mobile Research Unit (MRU) expands access to our clinical research studies and trials to underrepresented racial and ethnic communities, and to those unable to travel. The MRU is a fully functional mobile facility equipped to conduct a wide array of study visits in the community. Research Support Core*

The Research Support Core supports all phases of clinical research with expertise in every aspect of the clinical research process. As a fee-for-service team, this Core can provide flexible services based on the individual needs and can begin at any point in the research trial. Services include study coordinator and research nurse staffing, recruitment support, community engagement, FDA support, and regulatory support. Request Research Support Core Services.

Dahms Clinical Research Unit (DCRU)*

The DCRU provides research-dedicated facilities and staff to create capacity, opportunity and a supportive environment for pediatric and adult clinical and translational research. Visit the DCRU webpage to learn more. Request services for your upcoming study by completing the REDCap survey.

Seidman Cancer Center Clinical Trials Unit (SCC CTU)*

The UH Seidman Cancer Center CTU provides a centralized infrastructure to support cancer related research. The unit provides a broad range of services to provide complete clinical trial coordination to assist in the initiation and conducting of clinical trials. REDCap Assistance

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a free electronic database accessible to all UH Employees. Connect with a REDCap Support team member to better understand how to create the database and surveys you need for your project! Email REDCap@UHhospitals.org for support and complete the education session REDCap: An Introduction.

Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Services

The Human Research Protection Program at University Hospitals has its own Institutional Review Board (IRB) who reviews all human subject research protocols which include UH patients, data, PHI or personnel. The IRB will also give Non-Human Research Determinations for qualifying projects. For questions, contact the HRPP Administration Office at 216-844-1529, or UHIRB@UHhospitals.org.

For those new to research, or who are confused about how to submit your new study to the IRB, the IRB Specialists are here to help! They will ensure the quality and content of your submission prior to sending to the IRB for review. Custom Research Education

In addition to our Clinical Research Education Catalog of over 50 courses, the Clinical Research Center can customize education and training to meet your specific needs. Contact ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org to request a custom one-on-one, small group, or large group session from the catalog or on a specific topic of your choice.

UH Clinical Research Orientation

UH Clinical Research Orientation provides information about navigating the research process and systems at UH for employees and research credentialed personnel. Email ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org to register.

Principal Investigator Orientation

Principal Investigators can request to work with a Research Integration & Education Specialist to assist them with navigating the UH Research Process and creating a research portfolio. Request a Principal Investigator Orientation by emailing ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org.

UH Clinical Research Center Financial Cores*

The UH Clinical Research Center Financial Cores (Pre-award Grants & Contracts, Research Finance, and Post-Award Grants Accounting) are dedicated to assisting study teams will all financial and contractual aspects of your study. They will work with you to ensure your grant award is in good shape, patient billing is accurate, and any contracts or agreements and executed appropriately. UH Research Credentialing*

The UH Research Credentialing process provides Non-UH personnel proper access to UH patients’ Protected Health Information (UH PHI) under Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved research studies. Start the process by reading Clinical Research SOP GA-103 UH Research Credentialing or emailing UHResearchCredentialing@UHhospitals.org.

Discover with UH: Health Awareness, Research, & Social Justice

Join the UH Clinical Research Center for presentations on and discussion about different health topics and the current research UH Principal Investigators are doing. Principal Investigators are invited to disseminate their results from previous and current research projects to all attendees. Resident & Fellow Research Training

During these group sessions, residents and/or fellows will learn about the Clinical Research Center’s free resources and how to submit their research project to the UH IRB. Contact ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org to schedule your Resident & Fellow Training.

ClinicalTrials.gov Support

Help is available for registering clinical trials, maintenance, tip sheets, results reporting or any questions related to ClinicalTrials.gov. Reach out to Rachael.Massey@UHhosptials.org for your one on one consult today.

CRC Poster Printing Services

You may qualify for your research poster costs to be covered by the UH Clinical Research Center. To view the instructions and criteria and to complete a request, visit the Research Poster Request Form. Allow one week for posters to be processed.
