The UH Research Support Core (RSC) offers comprehensive services and resources designed to facilitate every stage of the research process. With specialized expertise spanning all areas of medicine, the Core supports all phases of clinical research to ensure high-quality outcomes for investigators across our region.
Available Services
Mobile Research Unit & Mobile Staffing
The only resource available in our region with capabilities to deploy a mobile infrastructure and trained personnel to conduct off-site or community-based research visits, including specimen collection, study-specific assessments, and health screenings.
Clinical Research Nursing & Study Coordination
Delivers day-to-day oversight and execution of clinical trials and research studies, including participant care, data collection, study documentation, and protocol adherence from start-up to close-out.
Local Regulatory Support
Prepares, submits, and manages Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and essential regulatory documents to ensure compliance with institutional, State, and Federal research regulations.
FDA Regulatory Support
Provides guidance and support for FDA-regulated studies, including investigator-held Investigational New Drug (IND) or Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) submissions, eINDs, EAPs, etc, and oversee FDA correspondences, reporting, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Recruitment & Retention Support
Implements targeted strategies and tools to identify, enroll, and retain study participants, with attention to diversity, equity, and minimizing participant attrition.
Monitoring Services
Conducts routine monitoring of research studies to ensure protocol compliance, data accuracy, participant safety, and adherence to regulatory standards through on-site or remote visits.
Data Entry Support and Management
Supports accurate and timely entry, query responses, and management of study data, ensuring high data quality and compliance with study protocols and privacy regulations.
Database Development Support
Designs, builds, and maintains secure, study-specific projects within the UH REDCap® environment to support accurate data collection, logic implementation, user management, quality control, and exports for analysis.
Project Management Support
Lead a team of researchers in planning, coordinating, and executing research activities for research projects.
Protocol Development & Grant Writing Support
Assists researchers in drafting study protocols and developing competitive grant proposals, including narrative writing, budget preparation, and alignment with funding agency requirements.
Lab Specimen Support
Facilitates the collection, processing, storage, and shipment of research specimens according to study protocols and regulatory guidelines to ensure sample integrity.
Research Business Operations Support
Assists with the financial and administrative operations of research studies, including budgeting, invoicing, purchasing, contracting, and sponsor communications.
Manuscript & Publication Support
Offers editorial and administrative assistance with drafting, formatting, and submitting manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, including assistance with author guidelines, citations, and revisions.
Community Engagement & Health Screening Support
Fosters partnerships with community organizations to promote research awareness and participation; supports the delivery of health screenings and education as part of outreach initiatives.

Participant Recruitment and Retention: Automated Texting and Voice Calling
REDCap Twilio Integration Support
Implements and manages automated Twilio text/voice services within the UH REDCap® environment to support automated participant communication such as reminders, notifications, surveys, and engagement tools.
Participant Payments and Travel
UH ClinCard & Lyft Integration Support
Facilitates integration of UH ClinCard (participant payments) and Lyft (transportation) services into research workflows to improve participant experience, convenience, and retention.
