Comprehensive Training Program for Pediatric Gastroenterology Residents and Fellows
Our Education Center provides the administrative support for all fellows, residents, medical students and faculty education at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
Atiye Aktay, MD is the program director of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. The Pediatric Residency Program is directed by Dr. Keith Ponitz, MD with assistance of associate directors Allayne Stephans, MD and Ross Myers, MD, and assistant director Marie Clark, MD, MPH. Our Medical Student Program is directed by Michael Dell, MD, and assistant director Erin Frank, MD. Together, we work to develop innovative educational programs for all learners interested in child health.
Under the leadership of Laura Adams, our program administrator, the education coordinators attend to all administrative requirements of the pediatric training programs, from assuring compliance with ACGME and other regulatory agencies to recruitment and orientation. In addition, the coordinators assist all fellows and residents with their professional lives.
We are all dedicated to maintaining the tradition of educational excellence that makes UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital a wonderful place to continue your career.
Fellowship Programs Mission
The mission of our Fellowship Training Program mirrors that of the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Pediatrics, which is to train academic physicians who will become leaders in their respective fields. It is our aim to provide each fellow with a solid foundation in clinical medicine as well as research. Our research experiences are varied and trainees have the opportunity to pursue different areas of focus, such as bench, clinical or translational research depending on their area of interest. These critical components of the programs, both clinical and research, allow our trainees to advance in many areas. Our former fellows take academic positions at top-ranked pediatric institutions as well as head subspecialty divisions and pediatric departments.
Fellowship positions are open to candidates who have completed at least three years of training in general pediatrics.
