Research Training and Support
A wide variety of opportunities for research training and scholarly projects are available to PEM fellows at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s. During the first year of fellowship training, fellows identify a mentorship team and research focus and develop a plan for a fellowship scholarly project based on their unique interests and career goals. These steps are completed with the strong support and guidance of our program leadership team and division faculty. Throughout their training, fellows progress through the scholarly process with the support and guidance of their research mentor(s) and Scholarly Oversight Committees.
Fellows are provided with many opportunities and supports to enable presentation of their scholarly work at local, regional and national/international meetings and publication of their scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals. All pediatric fellows at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s are eligible to apply for grant funding through a unique Fellowship Research Award Program (FRAP) offered by the institution to financially support the scholarly work of fellow grantees. Fellows also have the support of biostatisticians, data scientists, medical librarians and a team of PEM research assistants who are invaluable members of team.
All fellows within our program have the opportunity to complete a training course in clinical research, epidemiology and biostatistics through the Clinical Scholars Research Program at Case Western University School of Medicine.
