Our Fellows

We welcome applications from physicians who are committed to building rewarding careers in the field of pediatric emergency medicine and to contributing to the advancement of our field. Fellows in our program must be willing to apply their knowledge, skills, time, effort and enthusiasm to providing excellent patient care in a compassionate, family-centered manner within a dynamic clinical learning environment. Individuals in our program pursue the advancement of their knowledge and skills with the guidance and mentorship of our outstanding division faculty. Fellows applying to our program should be prepared to design, complete and disseminate the results of a fellowship scholarly project based on their own unique professional interests, with guidance from their mentorship team. Those applying to our program should possess intellectual curiosity, a strong desire to continuously learn and grow as a pediatric emergency medicine professional, a willingness to teach and mentor others in a supportive manner, and a commitment to caring for children and their families utilizing a team-based approach.

Individuals who have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in pediatrics OR emergency medicine, and who are either board-certified or board-eligible in pediatrics or emergency medicine are welcome to apply to our program. Fellows who are pediatric or EM board-eligible must become board-certified during their fellowship to be eligible for board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

After Graduation

Graduates of our program have gone on to build successful Pediatric Emergency Medicine careers in both academic and non-academic settings across the nation. We are incredibly proud of all of our alumnae, who are nationally recognized leaders in a variety of areas including medical education, Point-of-Care Ultrasound, prehospital care/EMS, disaster preparedness, quality improvement, health policy and advocacy.

First Year Fellows

Tooba Ali, MBBS

Hometown:  Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Professional Interest:  Emergency Medicine, Global Health, and QI
Personal Interest:  I enjoy traveling, watching Netflix, reading, and interior designing.
Why I chose Rainbow: I had a wonderful experience rotating in the Peds ED as a resident. The learning environment is very supportive and encouraging so I decided to choose Rainbow for fellowship.

Sarah Branch, MD

Hometown: Allentown, PA

Professional Interest: My interest is bridging the gap between Emergency Medicine and Primary Care, and Medical Education
Personal Interest: I enjoy going on runs and cycles through Cleveland Metroparks, spending time with my husband and cat, painting, and making copious amounts of baked goods.
Why I chose Rainbow: I was drawn to the warmth of the PEM faculty! I appreciate their desire to teach and admire the way they care for the children of Cleveland.

Ayesha Liaqat, MBBS

Professional Interest: My clinical interests are Pediatric trauma and injury prevention, MCI, simulation-based education, and resuscitation training. My research interests are medications used in pediatric trauma resuscitation, sedation and pain control in emergency department as well, and mass causality incidents preparedness.
Personal Interest: My hobbies are exploring national parks, travel, flower preservation, and photography. I love spending time with my husband and daughter!
Why I chose Rainbow: I successfully completed my first two years of training at LSU New Orleans and gained robust experience. After my daughter was born, I wanted to be closer to my family and at the same time, did not want to compromise on my medical education and training and therefore I chose Rainbow for robust academic environment, strong emphasis on high acuity pediatric emergency and trauma exposure at this nationally ranked children’s hospital with renowned simulation and medical education/research infrastructure.

Collin Huth, MD

Why I chose Rainbow: My experience during pediatric residency, particularly my time in the ED, confirmed that Rainbow’s faculty are passionate teachers who offer exceptional training and a supportive environment. I knew this was the right place for my fellowship and professional development.

Why I chose Rainbow: My decision to remain at Rainbow for fellowship was driven by the exceptional supportive and collaborative atmosphere among faculty and staff. I appreciate feeling consistently supported, challenged, and valued as I advance my journey to become a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician. Additionally, Cleveland offers a great quality of life and a welcoming community to live.

Nadya Gelabert Rivera, MD

Professional Interest: My main interests are in global health and medical education
Personal Interest: I enjoy reading and watching Broadway musicals.
Why I chose Rainbow: Rainbow offered opportunities to grow and learn in multiple areas besides training (e.g., global health, mentorship in career, etc.). But my main reason is that I was looking for a place where everyone knows each other and cares about each other’s success. During my interview, you could tell this was a close-knit group, and I immediately knew I could see myself here for fellowship.
