Investigators & Clinical Providers

Faculty education, leadership, and career development is key to career advancement and fulfillment, and research is a great way to help advance your academic career.

One of the faculty standards for promotion is excellence in scholarly research, evaluated by achievements, including, but not limited to: first and senior authorships, receiving funding as PI, and participating in interdisciplinary research team science. Contact Marjorie Greenfield, MD for a one-on-one consultation to learn more.

Whether you choose to lead your own research studies, or support existing investigators and studies; engaging in research at any level can provide more options for your patients and help move forward UH’s mission to advance science and discovery in medicine.

There are various Levels of Research Engagement for Investigators and Clinical Providers

Some examples of each engagement level are below:

Low Engagement Medium Engagement High Engagement
Serving as a referral source for research participants. Serving as a sub-Investigator on a study. Serving as Principal Investigator for a study.
Talk about clinical research to your patients and medical staff. Assessing participants with Investigator to ensure compliance with protocol. Creating a departmental research team.
Supporting clinical research awareness and education efforts. Enrolling participants on clinical research studies. Publishing clinical research studies’ findings.
