Why Choose UH for Pediatric Allergy & Immunology Care?

In the field of allergy/immunology, our board-certified physicians have extensive training and experience in testing for and treating the full range of allergies than affect babies, children, adolescents and young adults. For immunological disorders, we test and treat patients of all ages.

Our nationally recognized expertise extends to numerous areas, including immunodeficiency, food allergies, asthma and eosinophilic disorders. For example, our Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center for Primary Immunodeficiencies offers advanced diagnostics and treatment for young patients and adults with primary immunodeficiency (PI) disorders, which are conditions that cause recurring, hard-to-cure infections, and other defects of the immune system associated with immune dysregulation. A designation of excellence, the Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center operates as part of an international network of 150 similar diagnostic and research centers funded by the Jeffrey Modell Foundation – a global nonprofit organization dedicated to early diagnosis, treatment and, ultimately, cures for PI disorders through research, advocacy, public awareness, physician education, patient support and newborn screening.

Furthermore, the Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center supports our own Inborn Errors of Immunity Clinic – UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s hub for innovative research and world-class patient care for people who have PI disorders and other types of inborn errors of immunity.

UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Division combines its high level of expertise with a compassionate care philosophy: we care for your children as if they were our own. Furthermore, operating as part of a full-service children’s hospital and comprehensive health system, we collaborate with renowned specialists across many disciplines to provide personalized, multidisciplinary treatment for all our young patients. Also, as a nationally renowned pediatric academic medical center, we are actively involved in research so that our patients may benefit from the latest findings and have access to innovative clinical trials.
