University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center's Internal Medicine Residency Program
The UH Geauga Internal Medicine Residency Program is a traditional three-year, ACGME accredited program.
During training, residents are exposed to various aspects of medicine in both community and academic settings. Robust subspecialty experience includes cardiology, pulmonology, hematology/oncology, rheumatology, infectious disease, nephrology, and gastroenterology, among others. Inpatient rotations occur at UH Geauga Medical Center and other clinical experiences utilize other medical centers within the UH system such as UH Cleveland Medical Center.
For each of the three years, residents work alongside residents and interns from other programs including the Transitional Year and Pain Management & Rehabilitation programs. Together, we strive to provide the best possible patient care under the careful guidance and supervision of the dedicated faculty present at each facility.
Welcome from the Program Director
Welcome to the UH Geauga IM Residency Program! I am thrilled that you are interested in our program and seeking out additional information. I hope this site gives you a sense of what our program is about and what you can expect throughout your training with us.
The UH Geauga program is a true academic training experience in a close-knit community setting. Regardless of your ultimate career goals, the UH Geauga IM Program is well equipped to help you along your career trajectory. While rotating through our diverse clinical training sites, you will be exposed to “bread and butter” internal medicine with access to subspecialty experiences. From highly functioning primary care clinics to tertiary referral ICU settings, our residents are exposed to a wide variety of patients with associated diagnoses, complexities, and socioeconomic backgrounds to prepare our residents for successful post-graduate careers.
What really makes the UH Geauga IM program special is how these learning experiences are delivered to our trainees. The learning environment that has been cultivated over the years is one of collegiality, support, and kindness. There are many programs where residents train with good colleagues, but few where those colleagues feel like family. Here at UH Regionals, our residents thrive in this type of supportive and friendly culture.
I hope that you enjoy learning about our program and the unique opportunities that it provides. Please feel free to reach out to either me or our exceptional chief residents if you have any questions. We all hope you consider joining the UH Geauga family!
