Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. Thank you for your interest in our program. We are proud to offer a residency experience that combines the close-knit, supportive environment of a community hospital with the academic resources and opportunities of the University Hospitals health system.

Our mission is to train compassionate, skilled, and confident physicians through outstanding clinical education, dedicated mentorship, and a culture built on collaboration, respect, and lifelong learning. We are committed to helping each resident grow both professionally and personally while supporting their individual career goals, whether in primary care, hospital medicine, or fellowship training.

What makes our program unique is the balance we offer. As a community-based teaching hospital within the nationally recognized University Hospitals health system, our residents benefit from the individualized attention and camaraderie of a smaller program while enjoying access to the expertise, innovation, and educational opportunities of a large academic network. This combination allows residents to develop confidence and clinical independence through progressive autonomy, always with the guidance of faculty who are genuinely invested in their success.

Our residents care for a diverse patient population with a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. From the very beginning of residency, they are encouraged to think critically, practice evidence-based medicine, and develop the clinical judgment that defines outstanding internists. Through bedside teaching, interactive conferences, quality improvement initiatives, simulation, and scholarly activity, we provide a well-rounded educational experience that prepares our graduates for success in any career path they choose.
