- Telephone Advice
During weekday business hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), we have a registered nurse dedicated to providing general care information/advice by phone. Medication refills can also be requested on the medication refill line.
Messages can also be left for physicians, and calls will be returned as soon as possible. The doctors typically return calls in between patients if the schedule permits or at the end of the day.
Depending on the nature of the question, we may need to examine the child before diagnosing, treating, advising on the condition.
- Online Advice
You can ask your provider questions via the MyChart app. Message responses may take up to two business days. If this is an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
Login or register for MyChart.
- After Hours/Emergency Calls
If an emergency should arise, please call 911. Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions, 440-871-5100.
After hours minor emergency calls are directed to our answering service where a registered nurse will triage the call. If the nurse is unable to address or advise on your concern, the doctor on call will be paged and return your call. Please save routine questions (mild illness, appointments, prescription refills) for the morning. We encourage you to refer to our website first, when practical, before calling the office.
- Sick Visits
Patients will be seen by appointment only. If you have siblings that need to be evaluated, please make an appointment for each child to ensure that everyone receives an appropriate amount of our time and care. If you feel your child needs to be seen more urgently, please go to the urgent care or emergency room.
Same day sick appointments are usually available, but requests received late in the day may need to be seen the following morning or referred to the urgent care or emergency room.
- Well Child Visits/Sports Physical
Well Child Visits are full physical exams. These visits include sports physicals and well child exams. Well visits also include follow up appointments if taking a daily medication. These appointments must be scheduled in advance. For your convenience, our schedule opens three months in advance. Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. We will need to reschedule your appointment if you are 15 minutes or more late for a scheduled well visit appointment. This will allow us to spend ample time with your child and avoid excessive waiting time. The recommended schedule of well visits is as follows: Newborn, 1 month, 2 month, 4 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month, 15 month, 18 month, 2 years old, 30 months, 3 years and then on a yearly basis.
UH MyChart allows us to e-prescribe any prescriptions at your appointment within seconds. This will allow us to keep better track of all medications you are currently or have been taking, even if prescribed by another office. For prescription refills please try to give as much advance notice as possible; feel free to leave a message for the nurse, we ask that for most refills your child's physical is up-to-date.
Medications that are more closely regulated by the FDA have different requirements for prescribers. We are required by law to see your child regularly to monitor medication use and usefulness.
