UH Mobile OB Imaging Unit

University Hospitals has launched a Mobile OB Imaging Unit to increase access to advanced pregnancy health screenings across Northeast Ohio. Our mobile unit will be stationed at a variety of convenient, UH locations across the region to offer OB ultrasounds by maternal fetal medicine (MFM) specialists. Appointments and a physician’s order are required.

All UH mobile ultrasounds are performed by a team of registered sonographers and will be interpreted by physician experts on the UH maternal fetal medicine team.

Providing Prenatal Ultrasounds Close to Home

Ultrasound is a safe and specialized, high-quality diagnostic tool used during pregnancy to enhance safety for the mother, improve fetal detection rates, and provide reassurance regarding fetal well-being. Typically, two or three ultrasounds are performed during pregnancy, providing critical information to obstetric providers. Ultrasound can help:

  • Confirm heartbeat, position, fetal number and amniotic fluid levels, and estimate due date
  • Screen for potential complications for mom or baby
  • Identify congenital anomalies that require specialized pregnancy management and support birth plans with the collaboration of the MFM care team and the mother’s obstetrical provider
