What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health profession that specializes in the evaluation of your body’s structural, spinal and neurological systems and their effect on your overall health.
Chiropractic physicians work to restore proper balance and function to these systems. A growing amount of research has demonstrated that chiropractic treatments are clinically effective, safe and reduce health care costs. Evidence supports this drug free approach for a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions including, but not limited to, back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica and pain in the joints of your arms or legs.
While most chiropractors focus primarily on the evaluation and treatment of the neuromusculoskeletal conditions, treatment may include chiropractic manipulation (CMT) or adjustments, muscular therapy, rehabilitative exercise, and lifestyle counseling.
Chiropractic Care at University Hospitals
The chiropractors at UH Connor Integrative Health Network blend a traditional hands-on approach with the science and technology of modern medicine and the power of physical rehabilitation techniques. Our chiropractic physicians are part of a bigger team and are integrated into the fabric of University Hospitals clinical staff. We work closely with our clinical partners at University Hospitals, including the newly formed UH Spine Institute. You may want to see the chiropractor solely for a complaint like lower back pain or neck pain. He or she may also partner with other team members to treat these same complaints when they are secondary to other conditions like depression, chronic illness or post-surgical pain, for example.
Meeting one of our chiropractic physicians for an evaluation is the best way to determine whether or not chiropractic care is right for you. They will take the time to listen, do a proper assessment, and make recommendations for a safe and effective treatment plan.
