Why I Chose Rainbow: The reasons are endless! I loved the people during my interview and AI. I was challenged academically however the environment was also safe for questions and mistakes. Our ambulatory clinic has programs and services to address the total health of our underserved community. There are multiple avenues for mentoring and exploring specialty specific and other interest such as advocacy and global health. Lastly, Cleveland is a city with great character and much to explore as far as nightlife, restaurants, Metroparks, museums, theater district, sports and so much more!

Why I Chose Rainbow: The strong commitment to advocacy that actually benefits the community, like through the Rainbow Women and Children’s Center! Plus the schedule lets me really dive into six weeks of inpatient medicine while giving me an immersive outpatient experience as well (plus a few guaranteed golden weekends). But really, above all else, seeing how happy the residents are and how involved and caring the program administration was on my interview day sold it. The PD and APD’s really know their residents well and I wanted to be at a program that prioritized getting to know me as an individual so they could help me succeed.

Everyone was so supportive and friendly, and they love to teach… that is still true today as I begin my first few days of intern year. Favorite Things About Cleveland: The Broadway shows that come to Playhouse Square are top notch! There is an amazing food, brewery and wine scene in the Northeast Ohio region that leaves never-ending options for foodies. There are several walking/biking/hiking trails not only in the Cuyahoga County region but also in several surrounding counties, such as Summit County (Akron, OH) within driving distance. Cleveland sports can have varying outcomes but Indians, Browns and Cavs games are always still enjoyable.

Why I Chose Rainbow: I fell in love with Rainbow as soon as my interview dinner started. Residents are genuinely happy here and we get great autonomy compared to larger programs. I love that we get to know attendings and nurses well. It makes our experience a personal one- I have many role models who know me and my goals and are helping me reach them. The team work between residents and nurses is incredible. I enjoy waking up each day even during tough rotations because I know I am well-supported and I love working with my co-residents inside and outside of the hospital!
