Comprehensive Care for Digestive Disorders in Children
When your child is struggling with a digestive concern, you want the best care possible that is specialized not only in treating their disease, but also experienced in patiently working with children. Our pediatric gastroenterology program is ranked among the top programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report. As a full service children’s hospital, we provide expert care for children of all ages, for even the most complex care.
We know many children go through fussy-eating phases and have the occasional stomach ache. But ongoing issues with eating and digestion could indicate a more serious condition or lead to developmental problems down the road. Identifying and treating these issues early is important, particularly in babies and young children whose brains are still developing and bodies are still growing.
Our board-certified and, in many cases, fellowship-trained digestive health specialists at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s understand how critical timing can be for diagnosis and treatment of children’s gastrointestinal conditions. Which is why we provide comprehensive, family-centered care in a timely manner to address the full spectrum of pediatric nutrition and gastrointestinal conditions in children of all ages.
Highly Specialized Team Collaborates to Provide Total Support for Children with Pediatric Digestive Disorders
At UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s, our highly specialized team of pediatric gastroenterologists collaborate with specialists across all clinical disciplines to accurately identify and treat digestive disorders in children, providing complete care to patients.
Patients and their families have access to a wide range of support services. We work closely with child life specialists, dietitians, nurses and nurse practitioners, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and social workers, ensuring every aspect of care is a part of treatment.
When appropriate, we also incorporate integrative medicine and complementary care. Our practitioners use evidence-based preventive and healing alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, massage and traditional Chinese medicines, to help patients manage or recover from digestive disorders.
Research and Clinical Trials for Pediatric Digestive Disorders
With an ongoing focus on research and discovery, our team of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition specialists actively participate in clinical research to explore and discover new and innovative therapies in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders in children. Because of this focus on advancing pediatric gastrointestinal medicine, many of these innovative therapies are available to our young patients sooner.
