Clinical Research

The Cystic Fibrosis Center is a Translational Therapeutics Development Center in the Therapeutics Development Network, sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The center has expertise in diagnostic tests and biomarker analysis for both the staging of cystic fibrosis lung disease and for the assessment of interventions for cystic fibrosis lung disease. The following are performed through participation in cystic fibrosis studies:

  • magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • multiple breath washout (MBW)
  • infant pulmonary function testing
  • induced sputum
  • nasal potential difference
  • sweat chloride testing
  • nasal curettage/brushing

The inpatient Dahm’s Clinical Research Unit housed within University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital allows us to enroll patients in more complex research studies.
