Why surgery? From a young, age, I have been fascinated with stories of how surgeons affect people’s lives. This fascination started when my family and I were personally affected by a lifesaving operation. During the Gulf War in Kuwait, we had family friends who suffered very serious injuries. Luckily, they were rushed to a nearby hospital where a surgeon was able to perform a lifesaving operation. Also, I really enjoy the operating room and love to learn hand skills, I find the cases interesting, and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Even more than all the usual reasons, I feel like there’s something so unique about general surgery that is almost indescribable.
