Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at University Hospitals

The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship (Internal Medicine) Program at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, is designed to train family medicine physicians and internists in the practices and principles of caring for older patients in multiple care settings. Our program mission is to enhance and provide excellent clinical care to older adults in all settings by training future geriatricians to be able to:

  1. Provide patient-centered compassionate care
  2. Educate other trainees and health-care practitioners in the care of older adults
  3. Evaluate and improve the quality of patient care practices

The one-year geriatric medicine fellowship (internal medicine) program provides clinical, quality improvement, research and educational experiences at both medical centers and collaborates with other programs throughout the university and the community. The Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care is composed of faculty from both the departments of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine.

We are committed to recruiting, training and retaining diverse classes of fellows. We provide an inclusive environment to support all genders, races, ethnicities, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. We believe diversity creates innovative opportunities to increase the educational value for our fellows and encourage applications from from groups underrepresented in medicine.
