Our Goal Is Your Safe & Comfortable Hospital Stay
From the time our patients are admitted until they are discharged, we do everything possible to ensure their stay with us is safe and comfortable.
Room Amenities
All patient rooms include the following services at no extra charge:

- Cell phones may be used throughout the hospital except when in close proximity (4 feet) to a patient on monitoring equipment. To protect patient privacy, cell phones may not be used to take photos or videos on UH Beachwood Medical Center property. Please respect the privacy and dignity of others.

Patient Meals
To serve you better, we offer an innovative meal preparation and delivery system that lets you order what you want, when you want it. You may order your meals to be delivered anytime between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., seven days a week. When you are settled in your room, you’ll receive a menu and instructions for ordering your meals. Feel free to order a snack for later in the evening.
Additional Information for Patients
Mail and Flowers. Mail and packages will be delivered to your room. Any mail received after your discharge will be forwarded to your home address. Florists deliver directly to patient rooms. Outgoing mail may be taken to the nursing station or given to your attending nurse.
Valuables. If you have valuables, please give them to a relative or friend to take care of during your stay. Although UH Beachwood Medical Center takes great care with your belongings, we are not responsible for lost or missing items. Store your eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and dentures in containers labeled with your name and place them in your bedside table when not in use. Please do not leave them on your bed or food tray, as they may be damaged or lost.
For the Hearing Impaired. UH Beachwood Medical Center offers an interpreter service for the hearing impaired at no charge, including telephones with amplification devices. A special telecommunications device (TTY) also is available. Please ask your nurse for more information.
Rapid Response Team. If you or your loved one’s condition seems to be changing, please contact your nurse. You also can request to see the nurse manager or nursing supervisor to share your concerns, and you can request that the staff contact our rapid response I-Team for evaluation. The I-Team is available 24/7 to evaluate patients and collaborate with the patient, family, nurse and physician in providing appropriate intervention.
Pastoral Care. For many people, a hospital admission can be a stressful experience. You find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings separated from your family, friends and religious community. To help during your stay, UH Beachwood Medical Center offers confidential chaplain services 24/7 for patients and families. Please talk to your nurse to arrange a pastoral call.
Discharge Information. Most patients will be discharged by 11 a.m. although tests or test results could extend your stay. Please make arrangements with a family member or friend to drive you home. If the person taking you home does not arrive by the time you’re discharged, you may wait in our discharge lounge.

Patient Advocacy Program
If you have concerns about any part of your care, we encourage you to first talk with your doctor, nurse or other caregiver. If your concerns are not resolved, or you prefer to talk with a third party, our Patient Care Advocates are here to help. You can freely voice complaints and suggest changes without being subject to coercion, discrimination, reprisal or unreasonable interruption of care, treatment and services. You may contact a Patient Care Advocate by phone, mail, email or fax. Our goal is to acknowledge your concern within one business day. We can:
- Address questions or concerns you have about your care
- Help you exercise your healthcare rights
- Review patient safety issues
- Clarify hospital policies
- Bridge the gap where you feel your expectations have not been met
- Provide information about hospital and community services
- Receive compliments for outstanding doctors and staff members
- Serve as a formal grievance mechanism for you and your family
We hope that through our efforts, you and your family will have a positive experience at University Hospitals.
