University Hospitals Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit
The Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit (IDCTU) at University Hospitals conducts a wide range of infectious disease research and public health surveillance projects, supported by federal, institutional, and industry sponsored trials. We have collaborated with leading organizations including the National Institute of Health, the American Hospitals Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group, the Cleveland VA Medical Research & Education Foundation, as well biopharmaceutical industry partners.
The University Hospitals IDCTU research spans critical areas, including vaccine efficacy studies (e.g., influenza, COVID-19, RSV, C. difficile, and E coli), infection prevention and control, implementation science, and antimicrobial resistance. Through these studies, we have partnered with several researchers and entities across University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University, including the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centers, UH community hospitals, UH Ventures, Pediatrics, MetroHealth, and others.
