Pediatric Pain Service
Pediatric Pain Management Program Brings Comfort to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Patients
The Pediatric Pain Service at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital provides pain management for hospitalized children who are experiencing pain from injury, illness and surgery.
Our experts work with the patient, parents/caregivers, and other relevant health care team members to create individualized care plans for effective pain management. An individualized care plan includes assessment of pain, treatment interventions and evaluation of interventions, as well as strategies for altering the plan if pain relief is not adequate. Effective pain management has been shown to speed up the healing process, improve appetite, decrease stress and reduce the time needed for hospitalization.
The Pediatric Pain Service team includes pediatric anesthesiologists Tiffany Frazee, MD, Cassandra Hoffmann, MD and Kasia Rubin, MD, pediatric critical care specialist and Pediatric Pain Service Medical Director Anne Stormorken, MD, certified nurse practitioners Jenessa Thirion and Carrie Williams, and program coordinator Susan Thomas. Our team’s specialized pediatric pain management expertise is available 24/7, 365 days a year to provide consultation and therapy for pediatric patients within the hospital.
