Emergency Care Training with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Sponsored by the American Heart Association, our Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class uses simulated pediatric emergencies to train with a systematic approach to initial pediatric assessment. Other program components include basic life support, PALS treatment processes, effective resuscitation and working well with a team. Within a classroom setting, this instructor-led educational course provides techniques to improve quality of care for injured or seriously ill children of all ages. The goal of this systematic approach and instruction within a team setting is both improved quality of care and improved outcomes.
Who Should Participate
This life-saving course is for anyone who may respond to an emergency situation for infants or children. Physicians, nurses, paramedics and others may participate in this educational opportunity for improved care, for those identified as:
- Dentists and dental students
- Emergency medicine providers
- Emergency responders
- First responders
- Intensive care or critical care providers
- Nurses
- Physicians
- Residents
While anyone may complete a course on Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), in many cases, a PALS course completion is required for hire for any healthcare provider with responsibility for emergency care within a healthcare trauma center setting.
