Medical student education, teaching the next generation of physicians, is at the core of our mission at University Hospitals. With a rich history of academic innovation, exemplary patient care and research excellence, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is proud to provide a wide range of medical student education opportunities. As a major affiliate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, our faculty are dedicated to teaching the science of health and the art of compassion.

Core Clerkships & Medical Student Rotations

UH Cleveland Medical Center offers core medical school clerkships to Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) students. We offer a wide range of clinical electives for both CWRU and visiting medical students, including the David Satcher Clerkship for 4th year students who are underrepresented in medicine. Our diverse patient population and highly specialized clinical expertise provide a robust teaching environment for comprehensive medical education opportunities.

David Satcher Clerkship

The David Satcher Clerkship hosts between 4-8 minority medical students (US citizens only) annually, offering them hands-on exposure to career opportunities in our academic medical center. As an integral part of the residency recruitment initiative, this program is focused on the inclusion of a diverse generation of future health care leaders.
