Visiting Medical Student Program at UH Cleveland Medical Center
We ask that visiting students DO NOT contact departments directly. If you have any questions, please email the visiting student coordinator, Erin Zawolowycz, at Erin.Zawolowycz@uhhospitals.org.

Domestic students who have completed their core clinical training and will be in the fourth year of medical education at their LCME- or AOA- accredited medical schools can apply for an elective experience at UH Cleveland Medical Center through the VSLO. Domestic students are eligible to participate in electives if their home institution permits that participation.
Under normal circumstances, we provide opportunities for a limited number of visiting international applicants from approved institutions. However, our international program is currently suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, we do not have a date for when it will resume.
Direct Patient Care Experiences with Elective Rotations for Medical Students
The Visiting Medical Student Program offers visiting medical students a broad range of clinical elective rotations that foster the growth of medical knowledge through direct patient care. Visiting medical students have an opportunity to become an active member of a medical team, including:
- Attending teaching rounds
- Taking patient histories
- Performing physical examinations
- Assisting with various procedures
- Attending departmental conferences
Students also have the opportunity to meet the elective’s clinical requirements which will prepare them for the next step in their careers.
