Neurosurgical Clinical Skills Lab

neurosurgeonsThe Department of Neurological Surgery at Case Western Reserve University/UH Cleveland Medical Center has pioneered a surgical skills laboratory for teaching and simulation of operative cases. Medical students and residents are taught the nuances of surgical approaches, technique and microsurgical skills necessary to be successful in practice.

An annual curriculum is designed to expose residents and medical students to complex skull base approaches, spinal procedures, and new cutting-edge microsurgical techniques. Didactic lectures are followed by hands-on cadaveric exposures in small groups. Faculty and senior resident guidance is present at each laboratory session.
