Enhanced Infection Control Measures
Physical Distancing
To help you maintain physical distancing, waiting room chairs will be placed at 6 foot intervals and safe-distance marks will be placed on the floor for those waiting to check in. Clear barriers may also be in place at the check-in counter. Remote check-in options may also be offered when you call to schedule your appointment.
Schedule Management
Appointment times will be limited and/or staggered so that waiting room occupancy remains at a safe level. Patients with the most urgent needs for medical care will receive top priority.
Screening & Testing
All providers and outpatients are screened when arriving at a UH facility. Anyone with symptoms or risk factors for COVID-19 are redirected to the appropriate resource for medical attention, which may include an online video visit or phone consultation. These symptoms and risk factors are:
- A temperature of 100.0 degrees F or higher. For your safety, temperatures are taken with a no-touch forehead sensor not an oral thermometer.
- Symptoms of respiratory illness such as cough or runny nose.
- Travel outside Ohio in the past 14 days.
- Contact in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed or suspected of having COVID-19.
In addition, all UH patients who are admitted as inpatients are tested for COVID-19. This includes patients having surgery, those who are admitted from an emergency department or patients who are transferred from other UH system hospitals, with the type of test depending on whether the patient has COVID-19 symptoms.
If you need to be tested for COVID-19 and are symptomatic, visit one of our testing locations.
If you tested positive for or suspect you have COVID-19, you can visit one of our fever clinic or urgent care locations, which offer comprehensive non-emergency medical care for both COVID-related and non-COVID conditions.
Masking
All UH providers will wear a mask while caring for you. For the safety of all, patients are also required to wear a mask or cloth face covering when they come to the office. Please make every effort to comply with this important safety measure.
Enhanced Cleaning Schedules
Waiting rooms, exam rooms, bathrooms and check-in areas will be sanitized regularly throughout the day with a CDC-approved disinfectant. At the close of each business day, a deep cleaning of all areas and surfaces will be done. To further reduce the risk of contamination, all nonessential items have been removed from the waiting areas, including magazines, toys, etc.
Hand Hygiene
In addition to frequent hand washing, the regular use of hand sanitizer is strongly recommended, particularly when entering or exiting the office space. Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available in all office waiting rooms and exam rooms.
