Message from Our Chair

Welcome to the Department of Pathology at University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University. Our UH mission is “To Heal, To Teach, To Discover”. In pathology we translate the UH mission to provide “Cutting Edge Clinical Diagnostics, Leading Clinical and Research Education Programs, and Forefront Innovation in Basic, Translational and Clinical Research”.

Our department is organized into four clinical divisions, which house diagnostic programs, clinical training programs and translational/clinical research, and two research divisions, which house research training programs and innovative research programs that place us in the top ten Pathology departments in the U.S. in NIH funding. Our Department of Pathology collaborates with the Departments of Radiology and Genetics and Genome Sciences within the University Hospitals Diagnostic Institute to bring cutting edge clinical diagnostics to all UH patients at all UH hospitals and facilities across Northeast Ohio.
