Diagnosis & Treatment

Comprehensive Diagnostic Testing and Treatment Options

The Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Center at UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute tailors specialized therapies to the unique needs of patients with chronic heart disease and heart failure.

Patients with idiopathic cardiomyopathy, diastolic dysfunction, heart failure from valvular disease, rare cardiomyopathies (hypertrophic, restrictive) and inherited disorders, pulmonary hypertension, adult congenital heart disease, and other severe conditions require aggressive medical and surgical options.

Our experts have extensive training and experience in therapies for the most challenging cardiovascular conditions, particularly the “no option” patients. Our program provides access to all available heart failure treatments. It is a leader in the latest investigational strategies, including pharmacologic and device therapy, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation, many of which are only available in select institutions across the nation.

Diagnostic capabilities include:

  • Echocardiography
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Stress testing
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
