Patient and Family Engagement

Patient and Family Engagement is defined as:

A set of behaviors by patients, family members and health professionals and a set of organizational policies and procedures that foster both the inclusion of patients and family members as active members of healthcare teams and collaborative partnerships with providers and provider organizations. The desired goals of patient and family engagement include improving the quality and safety of healthcare in hospital settings.

To welcome, educate and engage patients and families to be involved in their care, to participate on Patient and Family Partnership Councils, Committees and Boards to positively affect operations to improve patient experience, quality and safety.
