Department of Pathology Advances Medicine Through Diagnostics, Discovery and Training
The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals has been a leader in clinical diagnostics, biomedical research and graduate training for more than a century. We expertly bridge the gap between science and medicine, providing critical diagnostic services and pioneering new discoveries in cancer biology, immunology, neurobiology, tissue injury and biomaterials compatibility.
Our Department of Pathology is comprised of two basic science units, the Division of Experimental Pathology and the Center for Global Health and Diseases, and four clinical divisions, Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Genomic and Molecular Pathology, and Community Hospitals Pathology. Together, our faculty and trainees promote translational and interdisciplinary research to turn scientific breakthroughs into improved patient outcomes.
In a field that is rapidly evolving and growing we are integrally involved in developing new technologies and approaches, using AI, transgenic mice, big data models for advanced research, seamlessly adapting to shifts in biomedical research, which now include greater application of experimentation in human systems.
A Legacy of Excellence in Pathology and Scientific Discovery
For more than 100 years, the Department of Pathology at University Hospitals has driven breakthroughs across cancer, immunology and neurodegeneration, building on a legacy of integrating research, education and clinical care to advance medicine.
