Message from the Chief Scientific Officer
The UH Digestive Health Institute provides all patients high-quality care with patient-centered experiences and access to innovative research to improve the health of the communities we serve. The following programs continue to flourish with important research accomplishments and publications: Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Barrett’s Esophagus and Esophageal Cancer, Hepatology, Health Services, and Outcomes Research.
We continue to pursue excellence in all areas of our mission statement and strive to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with digestive diseases while at the same time remaining inquisitive researchers and educational innovators.

In 2015, the Digestive Health Research Institute was formed at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine under the leadership of Inaugural Director Fabio Cominelli, MD, PhD.
