Medical Student Research Group
The University Hospitals Dermatology Medical Student Research Group fosters a collaborative and supportive community that empowers medical students to grow professionally while upholding the core values of altruism, collaboration, empathy, and competence. We provide a structured environment and robust resources that enable motivated students to serve as principal investigators and project leaders on research initiatives aligned with their interests. These resources include a shared drive with guides for manuscript writing and statistical analysis, advanced quantitative analysis office hours, and weekly project ideation sessions. Students also benefit from monthly faculty meetings that facilitate mentorship, as well as access to a network of experienced upperclassmen with prior research leadership experience.
Through our group, we emphasize:
- Altruism: Giving one’s time and skills to support peers and advance dermatologic care.
- Collaboration: Working closely with faculty and peers to build strong academic and professional networks.
- Empathy: Strengthening emotional intelligence and addressing healthcare inequities by engaging diverse perspectives.
- Competence: Developing the skills necessary to conduct high-quality, professional research.
Our goal is to inspire and equip future leaders in dermatology by laying the foundation for meaningful, impactful research. If you are interested in joining, please complete the interest form and submit a 1–2 page statement describing what these values mean to you and how you plan to apply them to your research endeavors.
