HIV Clinical Trials
The Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) was established and is a founding unit of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the world’s largest network of AIDS-related treatment clinical trials.
Since its beginning, more than 1,800 people have volunteered to participate in HIV treatment trials at the Unit. Housed in the University Hospitals Foley Building (UH Cleveland Medical Center) along with the John T. Carey Special Immunology Unit, the ACTU offers a wide variety of clinical trials to HIV-positive individuals. The ACTU has also joined the Microbicide Trials Network which is working to provide new HIV prevention tools for HIV-negative men and women.

Community Advisory Board
The ACTU has an active Community Advisory Board that provides an important link between the Unit and the HIV-positive community. The Community Advisory Board reviews upcoming clinical trials, advises the Unit on outreach and recruitment, and assists in holding educational events for the community. The Community Advisory Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., except for the months of July and December.
