To ensure the most successful outcome, our heart surgery team is comprised of experts from many medical disciplines, including providers noted below.
Cardiac surgeons
Our cardiac surgeons complete rigorous specialized training and offer skilled expertise in the latest heart surgery advances. Each patient will meet with their surgeon before the procedure, either in-person or virtually, to discuss the operation and answer any questions.
Cardiologists
Each patient will meet with a cardiologist to review medications, order diagnostic testing related to their heart condition, review test results, discuss treatment options and recommendations, and monitor patient health before and after surgery.
Cardiac anesthesiologists
Our cardiac anesthesiologists are specially trained to administer anesthesia for heart surgery patients. Each patient will meet with their cardiac anesthesiologist before their procedure to review their health history and discuss the anesthesia plan.
Nurse practitioners
A nurse practitioner specially trained in cardiothoracic surgery will meet with each patient to review records, perform physical exams, order related testing and provide education about the patient’s heart condition and procedure.
Advanced heart failure specialists
A heart failure cardiologist treats patients who require specialized services to manage their condition, and assessment of their eligibility for heart transplantation or mechanical heart pumps.
