Program Director’s Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website and considering the University Hospitals Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program for your subspecialty training.

Our one-year full-time fellowship, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, is accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). On behalf of our Program members, including current and past fellows, faculty, and administrative leadership, I welcome you!

University Hospitals’ ACGME accredited Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program is pleased to announce a city-wide expansion of the training program beginning in July 2023 to include Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and MetroHealth Medical Center as partners. The citywide program will provide fellows with innovative, comprehensive and first-class clinical training in substance use disorders within supportive academic settings.

Two key components of a successful program include a diverse patient population and committed and passionate faculty that focus on providing exceptional education and professional development to its fellows. You will have the opportunity to experience both during your fellowship year at University Hospitals.

Our training program is among the largest, as we accept five board-eligible psychiatric fellows each year for a one-year training program. We offer our fellows rotations at numerous sites, including the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (opiate treatment program and gambling addiction), the county jail, a bridge clinic, outpatient addiction clinics, sub-specialty clinics, and adult and adolescent residential treatment facilities. At these sites, fellows will work one-on-one with our diverse faculty; many of whom are nationally recognized for their exceptional clinical care. Furthermore, throughout the fellowship, trainees from our Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program and MetroHealth Medical Center’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program will join weekly for formal learning, where we have developed a unique, interactive, and well-rounded curriculum. The fellowship includes opportunities for clinical research, teaching and public health advocacy.

We sincerely feel the University Hospitals Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program is a unique program that offers world-class training. We are glad you are considering joining us. Please feel free to reach out to our program office with any questions.

I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,
