The Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program is designed to provide trainees with clinical and academic skills to prepare for future roles as clinical leaders.

Interests: David likes to bike, hike, run and snowboard. He has traveled to many different countries and he enjoys experiencing new cultures. He is considering going into sports medicine in the future.

Bradley Green, MD

Bradley Green, MD

Medical School: St. George's University
Interests: Brad is originally from North Carolina, born in Durham. His family has moved to Maryland, Virginia and back to N.C. He worked as an EMT for two years prior to medical school and loves interacting with patients in every walk of life. His wife Bethany is a family nurse practitioner and is currently working at the Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at the Cleveland Clinic. They met at church in North Carolina and fell in love in part due to their mutual love for medicine. Their long-term plan post-residency is to work overseas, possibly in Africa. Through the work of the global health department at UH with Dr. Morikawa, Brad hopes to get some exposure not just to overseas medical work, but to also view global health through the lens of caring for underserved patient populations here in Cleveland. Brad and Bethany enjoy dancing (swing), hiking, bike rides and generally anything related to the outdoors, most of which can be found in and around the Cleveland area.

Interests: Flint grew up in Roy, Utah, and attended Utah Valley University where he earned a bachelor's in business management and international business. He was a collegiate wrestler and became the university's first conference champion. Through wrestling, he had many associations with sports medicine doctors during high school and college. Rubbing shoulders with these great mentors is what inspired him to pursue medicine. He attended Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in North Carolina as part of the inaugural class. After medical school he completed a transitional year at University Hospitals in Cleveland. Upon completion of his intern year he transitioned to the Family Medicine Program, which believes has been such a great opportunity to learn and grow in serving such a unique patient population. He would never trade the experience he has gained. He is honored and humbled for the opportunity to serve as chief resident. Following Family medicine residency Flint plans to pursue a fellowship in Sports Medicine. Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time in nature with his wife, Ashley, and four kids: Allie, Kale, Darcie and Esca.

Interests: Samanza grew up in Bangladesh then moved to North America to complete her education. In the last 10 years she has lived in Canada, attended medical school in Grenada, continued third and fourth years at a New York hospital, and now comes to University Hospitals for our residency program. Samanza plans to pursue a career in adolescent medicine. In her free time, she likes to spend time with family and friends, try new and different cuisine and read books.

Interests: Drew comes to the UH Cleveland Medical Center Family Medicine program from Worcester, Mass. He is especially excited to work together with an awesome group of residents, attendings and other staff at such an excellent academic institution serving a diverse population. His professional interests include addiction medicine and sports medicine, and his personal interests include exploring Cleveland, going to the gym, playing basketball and streaming TV.

Interests: Jalia was born and raised in Oakland, Calif. She attended college at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans and studied biology and chemistry. Wanting to treat the patient as a whole, she felt family medicine provided her with the best opportunities to accomplish her goals. In her free time, she enjoys road binge-watching her favorite Hulu and Netflix shows, trying new restaurants, spending time with family and friends and watching sports. Go Warriors!

Wail Yar, MD

Interests: Wail grew up and went to medical school in Saudi Arabia, where he worked as a teaching assistant at King Abdul Aziz University. He then pursued his Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Systems and Policy from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health; there he also pursued the Public Health Informatics certificate at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as well as the Business in Health Care certificate from the Carey Business School. Wail is a health tech geek and has participated in multiple online and mobile preventive medicine projects such as Coronamap and Pathobook. He is eager to teach and create new tools which will improve the quality of care and engage patients in their healthcare decisions. His professional interests include biomedical informatics, personalized medicine and integrative medicine. In his free time, Wail develops websites, writes blogs and spends quality time with his kids.

Interests: Durga came to our program from Michigan to fulfill his legacy of becoming a successful clinician. He completed his first year which was he says was rough and overwhelming, and recalls a lot of sleepless nights. Through it all, he feels blessed and encouraged to be in his 2nd year of residency and looking forward to being more involved in outpatient care. Outside of work, he usually spends his free time with his twin toddler sons, wife, and family while exploring the cultural and historical areas of Cleveland. His hobbies include traveling around the world, cultivating friendships, watching games such as World cup soccer, NBA games and so on. Overall, he loves being in Cleveland with his great Family Medicine team. To fulfil his dream, he is looking forward to serving the underserved population.

Interests: Jennifer comes from Peru. She has a vibrant and adventurous spirit. She loves nature and believes it brings the best out of her. She loves exercising, yoga and meditation. She is passionate about helping under-served populations. She chose this program not only because she recognized diversity as a strength but also because of the quality of people she found here. In the future she will be interested in doing Geriatrics or Integrative Medicine. Her other interests include salsa dancing, hiking and enjoying the company of good people.

Interests: After spending most of his life in Japan, Tom has just started his new journey as a primary care physician here in Cleveland. He grew up playing baseball and lacrosse until he entered medical school. He moved to Sapporo, which is located in the northern part of Japan (and is famous for beer!), to pursue his medical career in internal medicine. While taking care of elderly patients in busy wards, he found himself wondering how these patients ended up in front of him and what he could have done to prevent them from coming to the hospital. His clinical interests include geriatric care, particularly advance care planning. He is planning to continue training in geriatrics. He is a coffee enthusiast and premiere league fanatic. He also loves traveling. His next destination is Brazil!

Interests: Pratha is from Appleton, WI - she is an unapologetic Packers fan and a diehard cheese lover. She is passionate about family medicine because she enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients. Pratha's interests are in broad spectrum family medicine, with focuses in obstetrics, maternal and child health, preventive medicine, and the role of public health in primary care. Someday, she'd love to work for Doctors Without Borders. In her limited spare time, Pratha is usually taking a nap or video chatting with her family. She loves cooking, snuggling with her dogs, trying new foods, and exploring national parks.

Interests: After dedicating over a decade of her life as a Cleveland EMS Paramedic, Sibley wishes to switch her focus towards coordinated and preventative care. To realize her dream, she completed her medical degree under the Northeast Ohio Medical University-Cleveland State University Partnership for Urban Health. As a NHSC Scholar and the recipient of the 2018 US Public Health Service Excellent in Public Health Award, she is excited to train at UH knowing her experience will enable her to provide quality and equitable primary care for the Greater Cleveland Community. When she's not working, she enjoys spending time with her loving husband Jason and their adorable son Jason II visiting the many museums and Metroparks; and attending the local community events such as One World Day, the Cleveland Asian Festival and the St. Patrick Day Parade.

Interests: Karan comes to our UH Cleveland Medical Center Family Medicine program from Washington, DC, home of the 2018 NHL Stanley Cup Champions, the Washington Capitals. Karan discovered her love for medicine after she became an EMT for her capstone project in Public Health during her undergraduate years at American University. She was drawn to family medicine when she finished her third year having immensely enjoyed all her rotations, from general surgery to pediatrics. She plans to practice in urgent care or rural emergency medicine after graduating from residency.

Interests: Maria is happy to be joining the Family Medicine program from (the one and only) Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Maria had been set on Medicine ever since high school. She never thought that her medical experience would take her to the island of Dominica, original home of Ross University School of Medicine. Maria enjoys the longitudinal care that comes with a family practice not to mention the variety; it was hard picking just one specialty - so why not pick all! She's undecided on what type of practice she wants to pursue but is excited to find out throughout residency!

Interests: Arne grew up in Bielefeld, Germany and in 2006 moved to Portland, OR, where he completed his bachelor's degree at Portland State University. He subsequently attended medical school at St. George's University in Grenada and completed two years of clinical rotations in Queens, New York. He discovered his passion for medicine after working as an EMT in Germany and chose to specialize in Family Medicine because he appreciates to broad scope of the field as well as the ability to build lasting relationships with patients and their families. His hobbies include cooking, working out, motorcycling, and exploring new corners of the world.

Interests: Originally from Massachusetts drawn to family medicine due to the diverse patient population and interest in primary care. His interest in medicine began with biomedical engineering as an undergraduate and led him to research in gene therapy. He would like to work as a primary care physician in the future. Interests include movies and playing drums.

Interests: Amina comes to our family medicine program from Chicago, home of the White Sox and the Cubs. She loves movies (her favorite movie was previously "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," but now she doesn't have a favorite). She loves music and traveling. Her favorite place to visit is Nigeria, her motherland (apart from Chicago). Her interests include global health, women's health, integrative medicine and public health. She will be completing her MPH as part of the Preventive Medicine Residency.
