Why did you choose UH?: During the interview process everyone was genuinely happy at UH. It made interviewing here fun! UH is big but not too big—class sizes are perfect. A chunk of the faculty are anesthesia critical care trained, which is a plus for learning as a resident, especially while in the SICU/CTICU. The leadership and support here are amazing. It is a long-standing level 1 trauma center with a great reputation that does practically every surgical case under the sun. Cleveland is also a well-known healthcare hub and an exciting city to live in with tons to do!

Why did you choose UH?: I know it sounds cliché. And I know that saying it sounds cliché is also cliché. But it really is the people — not just any people, but the kind who feel like they’ll eventually become your second family. UH is a perfect example of exactly that.

Real Interests: I am passionate about maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle, with a strong interest in basketball, regular gym training, and outdoor activities such as biking. I also enjoy car rides as a way to unwind and reflect. Alongside these interests, I place high value on building a stable and supportive family life, which I consider a central long-term priority.

Why did you choose UH?: I am seeking a residency program that offers strong clinical training to build a solid foundation in patient care, along with meaningful research opportunities to support my academic development. A supportive and collegial environment is important to foster learning, collaboration, and professional growth. Additionally, being geographically close to my fiancée is a key consideration, allowing for personal stability and long-term balance during training.

Why did you choose UH?: I chose UH because I believe it was where I could become not only the best anesthesiologist, but the best version of myself. The residents don’t seem like coworkers, but more like friends. You get to know your faculty which in turn leads to more trust and autonomy, and that is how I learn best. Some other big factors were staying near family and Cleveland and the great opportunities to moonlight as a resident!

It was clear during my interview how much camaraderie was present between the residents and faculty, and combined with the outstanding case variety and volume at UH the decision was pretty easy!

Why did you choose UH?:  I chose University Hospitals because it felt like a place where I’d see a lot, learn a lot, and really grow. I wanted strong exposure to a wide range of cases and pathology. I also liked being in a city like Cleveland, it has a great mix of things to do, good food, and sports, which makes it a really nice place to live and train.

Why did you choose UH? I chose UH because the program’s friendly, work-hard-play-hard culture felt like a great match for me. As a large academic hospital with exposure to everything from Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma to transplants and other complex surgical cases, UH offers the kind of training that will push me to become a confident and clinically sharp anesthesiologist. Cleveland also seemed like a great place to spend residency: exciting, affordable, and with plenty to do when I’m not in the OR.

During my fourth-year rotation, I experienced firsthand how welcoming and supportive the environment is, and that really stood out to me. The culture within the department felt collaborative and genuinely invested in resident growth, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a training program. I’m also confident that the breadth and quality of training at UH will prepare me well for any path I choose within anesthesiology. On a personal level, it felt like home during my rotation, and being close to my family makes it an even better fit for me long-term.

After exploring the city and hearing his insight about the programs in the city we were intrigued and applied to our respective programs in Cleveland. After the couples match brought us to Cleveland, we couldn’t be more excited for the chance to grow in our careers at incredible programs and come to love a new city!
