Application-Required Programs

Anton Fellowship Program

Application to the Anton Fellowship Program is offered annually to all physicians. This program was created by Carol and Arthur F. Anton with a vision to lead academic medical centers in the development of physician leaders. The Anton Fellowship Program leverages a variety of learning vehicles, including classroom, project and experiential programs that deliver an opportunity for application in immediate and tangible ways. The fellowship also includes a developmental program at Harvard University for physicians in academic health centers. This is a selection program and physicians apply for consideration.

Physician Leadership Advancement Program (PLAP)

The PLAP provides you with the tools and skills needed to inspire employees, manage the challenges of executive leadership, articulate key strategic and financial drivers of healthcare, recognized costs generated by inefficiencies and poor quality, project management tools to develop solutions to improve inefficiencies and strategies to interact with all levels of the organization. The previous cohort met one full day a month for six months. Physician leaders identified to participate in this program will receive an invitation.

Free Programs

We are proud of the commitment of our physicians to pursue excellence in clinical care and leadership skills for the benefit of our patients and our community. Physicians can continue their growth through free programs offered by the UH Leadership Institute.

The UH Leadership Institute Physician Certificate (UH GPS access needed) will enhance your personal impact and connections with patients and those you work with on a daily basis as well as help you better understand your business. To earn a UH Leadership Institute Physician Certificate, you must complete four courses:

  • Critical Insights for Leaders or Leading at UH, Part 1
  • Leading Change in Health Care or Supporting Change in Healthcare for Leaders
  • One of the following:
    • Navigating Difficult Conversations
    • Handling Difficult Conversations
    • Influencing Skills for Leaders
    • Impact Thru Influence
  • One of the following:
    • Managing Conflict
    • Put More Accountability in Your Culture

A certificate will be awarded upon completion of all four courses within 24 months of enrollment.
