University Hospitals Veale Healthcare Transformation Institute

Identifying healthcare’s biggest problems

Piloting the best technologies

Enabling transformational leadership

About

The Veale Healthcare Transformation Institute is a first-of-its-kind model that aspires to transform healthcare organizations into dramatically safer, far more cost-effective systems.

With a $21 million in venture philanthropy from the Veale Foundation, the Institute aims to return over $300 million in value by addressing healthcare’s highest value problems.

We are a team of strategists, designers, clinicians, and technologists, working in close collaboration with UH Ventures, the Office of Strategy & Innovation, the Office of Clinical Transformation, and the Department of Operational Effectiveness.

The Problem-Impact Cycle

Transforming healthcare starts by understanding our most pressing problems, then exploring solutions and scaling what works. By prioritizing the needs and experiences of those who receive care, provide care and pay for care, we are working to improve the way we turn problems into impact in three ways:

Effectiveness

Focus on finding highly impactful solutions to challenging yet feasible problems

Efficiency

Lower barriers to transformation and accomplish more with shorter cycle times

Impact

Increase the value we see from innovation, and number of health systems where it is deployed
