Clinical Research Observation Program
Deciding on a career path takes trial and error. The best way to find a career path which suits your interest is to shadow them in their everyday role. You can then have a mentor to connect with as you grow into your career.
Students who are accepted will be able to engage with many clinical research roles with varying backgrounds (clinical, administrative, and finance) throughout the week. Each session will include a clinical researcher or support staff showing their daily tasks. During each session we will ask students to participate in activities to give them some hands-on experience.
Who Can Apply?
Incoming high school juniors and above (students 15 years and older) are free to apply. Students should be prepared to interact during each session.
Applying for the Observation Program Clinical Research Summer Series

Deadline: May 1, 2024
- When does the program start and end?
- June 10, 2024 – June 14, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. every day.
- Is lunch and parking included in the program?
- Since students will be at UH Cleveland Medical Center each day, we will be providing parking and lunch vouchers. Students are welcome to bring a packed lunch and/or snacks as well.
- What do I need to apply?

Complete the Observation Application. Within the application, you will need to read our UH Policy, GM-38. Have the following information readily available:
- Completed Attachment A, see in GM-38
- Completed Attachment C, see in GM-38
- Completed Attachment D, see in GM-38
- Completed Attachment E (please complete the top portion of the form), see in GM-38
- Copy of your Photo ID (student ID or driver's license)
- Copy of your Health Insurance
- Copy of your Compliance Training Completion Report. You may take this training online.
- Proof of a 2-Step TB Test (total of 4 visits with 2 negative readings) or Blood Draw TB Test (Quantiferon, T-Spot) within 6 months of June 10, 2024
- TB Tests can be completed at local pharmacies, minute clinics, and hospitals
- Copy of COVID Vaccination Card, or apply for exemption by contacting ClinicalResearch@UHhospitals.org
- How do I know I was accepted into the program?
- Acceptance letters will be sent via email the week of May 13, 2023.
