Testing the Addition of a New Anti-Cancer Drug for Advanced-Stage Cervical and Vaginal Cancers

Study Purpose

A Randomized Phase III Trial of Radiation Therapy and Cisplatin Alone or in Combination with Intravenous Triapine in Women with Newly Diagnosed Bulky Stage IB2, Stage II, IIIB, or IVA Cancer of the Uterine Cervix or Stage II-IVA Vaginal Cancer

The purpose of this study is to confirm the effectiveness of the combination of triapine with usual cisplatin and radiation therapy in patients with advanced-stage cervical or vaginal cancer.
