Recurrent Hernia Repair

The breakdown of a hernia repair, which often increases the complexity of the problem, is called recurrent hernia. Recurrent hernias can occur because of a wound infection, improper healing, or inadequate or incorrect repair during the initial procedure. Recurrent hernias can be repaired using either traditional open surgery or using laparoscopic techniques.

The UH Comprehensive Hernia Center has become one of the world’s highest volume centers for treatment of recurrent and failed hernia repairs. Patients with recurrent hernias will receive the best possible care from surgeons who have a proven track record of success at treating complex recurrent hernias. Treatment is available at many of our locations across Northeast Ohio.
