Physical Therapy Residency Program in Neurology

The University Hospitals Physical Therapy Residency Program in Neurology is a full-time, 18-month program.  The resident rotates through three different levels of care including acute care rehab at UH Cleveland Medical Center, inpatient rehab at UH Lake Health and UH Parma medical centers and outpatient rehab at a Parma outpatient rehab clinic.  The didactic component of the neuro residency program is completed through the Institute of Knowledge Translation.

The resident will be given the opportunity to develop an autonomous clinical practice with built-in mentorship from clinical faculty, while developing skills in professionalism, teaching and research through our relationship with Cleveland State University. The resident will develop a research project that will culminate in a presentation at a local, state or national conference. Knowledge and skills will be assessed through midterm and final exams, both written and practical.

The program will not only help prepare the resident for the Neurologic Certified Specialist (NCS) exam, these experiences will help develop the professional skills needed to be both a clinical specialist and a quality educator.
