Volunteer Services at UH Ahuja Medical Center

Volunteers are an essential part of the experience patients and families have at UH Ahuja Medical Center. They compassionately give of their time and talents to enhance the healing environment and deliver superior service to the community.

Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with patients, families, staff and the community. The UH Ahuja Medical Center Volunteer Services staff specializes in creating a personal volunteer experience that capitalizes on an individual's unique skills, abilities and desire to make a difference.

Volunteer Opportunities

Most volunteers say that the personal fulfillment, which comes from helping another person, is their greatest reward. Other volunteers look forward to the new friendships and camaraderie they share with fellow volunteers and staff members. Many enjoy learning new skills and contributing to the community. Regardless of whether you are volunteering to gain new skills, meet new people or lend a helping hand, the volunteer program at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center may have a volunteer position to meet your needs.

Summer Youth Volunteer Program

UH Ahuja Medical Center offers the opportunity for high school and college students to volunteer over the summer months during their school break. The program runs eight weeks and students are assigned to age-appropriate volunteer jobs throughout the hospital. While volunteering is a fun and very rewarding experience, it is also a very serious commitment. Volunteering requires that you be willing to learn, work hard, act responsibly and be open to new experiences.

Students must submit a volunteer application, one reference form and attend a mandatory interview and information session. Students are asked to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week to the program. Volunteer experiences will be regularly scheduled, the same day and time every week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Note: Students with schedule conflicts involving more than one week of the program calendar should not apply. Returning students are given priority.
