Annual bootcamp for residents in Otolaryngology

Participants:
PGY-1 and PGY-2 ENT residents
Content:
A one day boot camp specifically designed for junior residents to learn crucial skills before they start taking call.
In the morning sessions, residents will be taught clinical skills in hands-on demonstrations. These will be centered on on-call skills such as airway management, epistaxis, trauma basics, otologic skills, and performing a surgical airway.
Afternoon sessions will allow residents to use these skills in team-based scenarios that prepare them for a variety of on-call emergencies. The day will feature two parallel curriculums to provide both PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents with instruction appropriate to their skill levels.
Skills taught
Evaluation of a difficult airway
Flexible and direct laryngoscopy
Adult and pediatric rigid bronchoscopy
Retrieval of a pediatric airway foreign body
Surgical airway, cricothyroidotomy and tracheostomy
Evaluation of a facial trauma patient
Mandibular bridling
Epistaxis management and nasal packing
Basic otologic skills
Cost:
$150 per participant, breakfast and lunch included
