Dysphagia Assessment Training

Stroke is the leading cause of neurologic dysphagia. More than half of all stroke stroke patients have dysphagia – a significant risk factor in developing pneumonia, which can further delay the patient's recovery.

Responsible for 34% of all stroke-related deaths, pneumonia is the third-highest cause of death during the first month following a stroke. The early detection and treatment of dysphagia in stroke patients is critical. The video below provides some bedside training for assessing dysphagia in stroke patients.
