How old were you when you felt the call to become a doctor?

It might sound a bit cliché, but I have always wanted to be a doctor, at that a pediatrician. My father was a pediatrician and I thought what he did was cool and how he helped children get healthy. And so, for as long as I can remember, I always said that’s what I wanted to do when I grew up and it has always just felt right to me.

Areas of clinical interest:

Being an immigrant myself, I have found an interest in immigrant health and access to health care mainly around health equity be it linguistic justice or other avenues.

Who or what inspires you and why?

My parents have been my biggest inspiration. As I already mentioned my father is a pediatrician and my mother went off to work in the public health sector following graduation from medical school. Their dedication to help those in need through their medical career is something I have always admired and find inspiring as I go about my day to day as a clinician. It was never about the money for them, it was about giving back to the country and the communities in which they have served around the world and that is the kind of clinician I want to be.

Dog or cat?

Cat for now, dog maybe when I have children old enough to walk a dog during cold winter morning.

Coffee or tea?

Tea always.

Cavs, Guardians or Browns?

San Francisco 49ers but that might change as I live here longer.

Favorite book (outside of medical journals)?

Becoming by Michelle Obama was a good listen.

People would be surprised to know that I …

... potentially have a documentary being done about my life, following me from high school for 10 years and then into and past medical school graduation.
